The Pope John Paul II Catholic High School Band promotes the performing arts among the students as an enhancement to their other studies. Participation in band fosters discipline, teamwork and an appreciation for fine music. Three concerts are presented annually including a Sacred Arts concert, Christmas concert and Spring concert.
Students may play for Solo and Ensemble contests and audition for All-District and All-State bands. The band also serves to facilitate the mission and activities of Pope John Paul II Catholic High School through partner school concerts, Step-Up Day activities, Open House and support for our new football team.
At present, there are three bands at Pope John Paul II Catholic High School: Concert Band, Jazz Ensemble and Pep Band.
CONCERT BAND:
The Concert Band is the main performing group for the instrumental department at Pope John Paul II Catholic High School. Three concerts are presented annually, and the Concert Band participates in the District Assessment. Band members have an opportunity to play in smaller ensembles and play for the Drama Department's Spring Musical.
JAZZ ENSEMBLE:
In its inaugural year at Pope John Paul II Catholic High School, the Jazz Ensemble performs at least one concert and supports the school at various events throughout the school year.
PEP BAND:
The Pope John Paul II Catholic High School Pep Band was formed in the fall of 2010 to rally fans at JPII sporting events including football and basketball.
