HUNTSVILLE, Alabama -- Taylor Gallagher had 20 kills to lead Pope John Paul II over Ardmore 25-11, 25-20, 25-19 in the championship of the 4A, Area 15 tournament.
“We really put something together tonight,” Catholic coach Maureen McKannan said. “We have a young team and we showed a lot of maturity.”
The Falcons jumped out to a 7-1 lead in the first game and used a 14-5 run to close it out.
The second game started much the same way, with Catholic (30-25) jumping out to a 7-2 lead. Ardmore used a 4-0 run to close to within three at 21-18, but the Falcons denied any comeback by closing out the game 4-2.
Ardmore went on top 5-4 to capture its first lead of the match in the third game. That didn’t hold up for long as Catholic went on a 15-4 run to lead 19-10 before closing out the match.
“We played hard the whole way.” senior Kylie McDonald said. “We didn’t let up like we have in the past against Ardmore.”
McDonald led the Falcons with 16 aces and 11 digs. Susan Sieja added 46 assists.
Stephanie Allen had 16 assists for Ardmore.

New Hope 2, Pope John Paul II 1
HUNTSVILLE, Alabama -- The Lady Indians won two straight defeating Ardmore 25-17, 25-15 and Catholic 23-25, 25-20, 15-13 to improve to 25-16.
Taylor Wilkerson led wtih 25 set assists and seven aces. Brittany Tipton had 10 digs and Megan Jones made 11 kills.
The Lady Falcons (24-22) won thier first match over Ardmore 25-9, 25-6, 25-13.
Susan Sieja tallied 52 assists to lead Catholic. Taylor Gallagher had 22 kills, Bethany Johnson 14 kills and three blocks and Victoria Domitrovich had five aces.

HAZEL GREEN – The host Lady Trojans bounced back from losing their first two games against Buckhorn to get the win. Hazel Green’s final scores were 20-25, 16-25, 25-17, 25-20, 16-14. The Lady Trojans then fell to Pope John Paul II 15-25, 25-17, 15-12.
Kirsten Giles paced Hazel Green with 71 assists and four aces. Bre Jones added 36 kills and five blocks and Lauren Miller added 27 digs.
For Pope John Paul II (10-10), Susan Sieja had 46 assists and four aces. Taylor Gallagher had 21 kills and Kylie McDonald finished wtih 17 digs.
In other action, Buckhorn (11-13) won its second match over the Lady Falcons 25-18, 21-25, 15-10.
For Buckhorn, Jale Hervey led with 45 kills. Samantha Espy tallied 40 assists and Marie Mendes had 21 digs.
