Dr. Russell has spent the last few years serving students as an administrator in the Catholic school system of the Diocese of Birmingham. Prior to that, he was an assistant professor at Jacksonville State University and a postdoctoral fellow at the University of Virginia. He holds a Ph.D. in political philosophy from the Louisiana State University (LSU), an M.A. in religion and politics from Baylor University, an M.Div. from the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, and a B.A. in theology from Boyce College. He will complete an M.Ed. in administration and supervision from Marymount University in 2019. Having converted to Roman Catholicism in 2007, Dr. Russell has taught RCIA, confirmation and adult education classes in parishes in Louisiana, Virginia, and Alabama. Additionally, he has published in the areas of religion and philosophy in journals such as the University of Notre Dame’s Review of Politics. Dr. Russell and his wife, Ashleigh, have two children, Elizabeth and Catherine.
