Fundraising Ethics

As Association of Fundraising Professionals members, the Development Office employees of JPII adhere to the Association ethics guidelines. We strive to be good stewards to our donors, our parents, our students and our community. 

Ways of Giving

Cash

Gifts of check, credit card or cash in single gifts or a pledge commitment provide simple, direct means to contribute. 

Investment Securities

Gifts of securities (stocks, bonds, etc.) owned a year or more can provide an opportunity for charitable tax deduction.

"Ordinary Income" Property

Gifts of appreciated property can provide tax advantages. Examples include inventory and stock that does not generate capital gains tax treatment.

Personal Property

An appreciated asset, sold for less than its current value to the School, gives the School the benefit of the full market value, while providing opportunity for a tax deduction.

Memorial and Honoraria Gifts

Many memorial funds have been established in memory of a deceased relative or friend or an Honorarium gift to honor a family member, teacher, or friend. Many annual gifts are made in this manner to memorialize or honor that special someone.

Bequests

Gifts of securities (stocks, bonds, When planning your estate, you can consider an outright bequest to St. John Paul II Catholic High School. Also, certain bequests in trust are not subject to estate taxation. Because of special statutory tax benefits that are granted for charitable contributions, your exclusion is the face value of the gift rather than the actual cost, which may be considerably less.

In-Kind Gifts

In-kind gifts afford you the opportunity to donate valuable items, property, or professional services to St. John Paul II Catholic High School. Examples include auction items for special events, office furniture, products and services for new construction and building renovations, legal and accounting services, etc.

Matching Gifts

Many employers generously match an employee’s gift to non-profit institutions, providing another avenue for additional contributions to St. John Paul II Catholic High School. If your employer will match a gift, the company’s matching gift form should be submitted with your own cash or pledge gift.
